Do you remember the things I used to do to you, when you were tied to the bedpost?  The needles under the fingernails?

[Demo}+:

Overall, aside from general dissatisfaction with the (lack of) fullness of the sound, put a fork in this.  It’s done.

{Demo}-:

Who wants to guess drum machine?   That would be… me.

{Backstory}:

There was a an instrumental that formed in my head, birthed from playing heavily distorted harmonics.  This instrumental was fed with a lot of misplaced anger, and a little correctly placed anger as well.  I had just finished the song when I saw Leslie West’s Theme for an Imaginary Western in my CD collection.

It’s about that simple.

There’s a screenplay that goes along with this, not coincidentally.

{Demo notes}:

Recorded at Denial Labs.  Instruments by me.  Effects largely by Daniel.  Chopped guitar especially cool.

No one was harmed before or after the making of this song, yet.

{Fixes/Influences}:

Note: these link to YouTube videos, most of which are probably unauthorized. If one of them is down, try searching for the song. And as always, if you dig the songs, I highly recommend dropping a few bucks on the full discs — these artists are well-worth your financial support. • The instrumental world of Devin Townsend: this, of all the songs, needs cinema.  It’s got to be thick, filled with layers and space and a billion things to discover.  Without a lyrical anchor, the production needs to help it speak.  See Down and Under, or Strapping Young Lad’s Dire. Hell, listen to anything he’s ever done. Now go buy it all.  Listen to it until it’s burned into your soul. Now you know what kind of layered production I’m looking for.
